Strong 2018 racing season!

2018 has officially come to an end. A successful end of the racing season for Cassels Racing.

Starting with Cameron's IMSA Prototype Challenge presented by Mazda with Cameron winning the 2018 Prototype Challenge Master's Championship and a win during the last round at Road Atlanta.

Cameron finished off the 2018 Lamborghini Super Trofeo season with Wayne Taylor Racing in Vallelunga, Italy. It was a successful final round of the North American series with Cameron finishing second in the final race.

The kids finished off the 2018 season with huge improvements and some great results.

Erin proved that rain racing was definitely one of her strengths finishing on the podium more than once this year. Erin was also recognized as Most Improved Junior driver in 2018 for the Rotax Class for the West Coast Kart Club. She learnt some new skills at CalSpeed Raceway in Fontana, California and Sim Raceway in Sonoma, California a couple days before the Challenge of the Americas. "I really think doing some of those laps on the Thursday before the race weekend gave me an idea of what it's like to be at a big race and different track conditions. Having really good racers around me on the track helped me with kart placement and throttle application in corners." Erin also challenged herself and improved in the Western Canadian Karting Championship in Starthmore, Alberta at North Star Raceway for the 1st and 2nd rounds and the 5th and 6th rounds in Chilliwack, British Columbia at Greg Moore Raceway. Erin can't wait to bring her skills from last year's season and race for the wins along side her brother, Kyle in the Junior Rotax class for 2019.

Kyle was fighting for the wins all season. He showed that he can run in the front with consistent lap times and improved his race craft overall. Kyle finished 2nd in the Junior Rotax Class for the 2018 West Coast Kart Club season. He personally enjoyed the last rounds for the Challenge of the Americas in Sonoma, California at Sim Raceway because it showed what he had learnt all year. "The series was filled with ups and downs that would be impossible to overcome without my superb team to support me. I am especially looking forward to a fantastic season in 2019!"

Ryan was fierce and aggressive through the season of racing. He improved his rain racing skills and getting on throttle quicker when exiting a corner. "I enjoyed when my grandparents came to watch us race in the wet final rounds of the Western Canadian Karting Championship at Greg Moore Raceway in Chilliwack, British Columbia." Ryan completed the 2018 West Coast Kart Club season with a second place finish in the Micro Max class.

Sydney improved tremendously throughout the whole year at all the races she attended. She proved that she could run in the front with all the boys and battle. Sydney completed off the season with finishing 4th in the Micro Max class for the 2018 West Coast Kart Club. "My goal for 2019 is to get to the 59.00's [at Greg Moore Raceway] in time hopefully. Super excited for the Challenge of the Americas. I love how my mom and dad are always taking care of us and how Daryle is always working super hard on 5 karts and to me, that's amazing!".

None of this would have been possible without the tired-less work of Tanya Cassels, our team manager. She booked countless flights for Cameron's car racing along with the kids racing in America and Western Canada. She has organized all the hotels and rental cars we needed this busy 2018! When we were in our home track Greg Moore Raceway in Chilliwack, BC, Tanya cooked every breakfast, lunch and dinner provided for the team. She made sure we had BOTH two gloves and that we didn't miss any track sessions. She also took a whole bunch of pictures for EsTeam Racing and Cassels Racing throughout the whole season where ever we went including Cameron and his racing in Italy. Tanya also dedicated time for counting all the results and points towards the end for the West Coast Kart Club 2018 karting season. Despite being so busy, she took time to watch her husband and kids in the stands and watch them pursue their dreams, develop and the most important part...to have fun!
